      Tapas Menu
      The word "tapa" actually means "lid" and in the past every glass of sherry bought in a local Spanish bar would come covered by a slice of bread to keep the flies out!. As time went on the bread was topped with ham, cheese or fried black pudding bringing about the beginning of tapas. At Mitchel House we serve "raciones" which are larger tapas portions, perfect for sharing with friends.
      
       How to use this menu.
       We have a simple approach, you can order what you want when you want. The most popular way is to order 3 or 4 dishes to have on the table for all to taste &amp; then follow with individual dishes for a 2nd or 3rd course and then order dessert from our a la carte dessert menu.

        Michael qualified as a Hotel Manager from the illustrious Shannon College of Hotel Management and went on to work in London, Frankfurt and closer to home in Dromoland and Ashford Castles. He was also General Manager of the Clonmel Park Hotel as well as the Clarion Hotel in Limerick.

        Michael has enlisted Award winning Eurotoques Chef Brendan Sheridan to head up his kitchen brigade and to produce modern Irish food at competitive prices where all dishes are produced from scratch in our kitchen. Mitchel House Restaurant is modern, warm and welcoming.

        Mitchel House is on the dining scene in Tipperary since 27th November 2007, located in Mitchel street in Thurles, Mitchel House serves modern Irish Cuisine in a modern relaxed environment. Owner Michael O'Dwyer is the third generation to operate a business from this property where his parents and his Grandfather before them operated a public house since the 1960's.
        
        Michael has come home to breathe new life into the well known Thurles landmark. And, thanks to the wealth of experience gained throughout the globe, he is determined to fill the niche in the market for good food in the town, especially in the evening time. Mitchel House is modern, warm and welcoming . With seating capacity for 86 customers at a time, we cater for small parties, more intimate evening meals, and Sunday lunches with ease.
        
        The restaurant has a new Early Bird Menu which runs from Wednesday - Sunday between 5:00pm and 7:00pm; while an a la carte menu runs until 9.30pm. There is a also a kiddies menu to cater for the entire family. The restaurant remains closed on Monday's &amp; Tuesday's and on Sunday's there are lunches from 12:30 - 2:30pm with evening meals from 5-8:00pm.
        
        Michael is delighted to be continuing a great tradition in Mitchel House and he is looking forward to continued support from the people of Thurles and the surrounding areas in years to come
